WP1 : CROSS-BORDER HEATING TRANSITION CONCEPT AND REGULATORY FRAMEWORK

WP1 aims to provide a comprehensive analysis to assist the complex task of establishing a feasible and operational cross-border heating network relying on residual heat and exploiting the storage and leverage potential of minewater bodies.

WP2 : EXPLORING POSSIBILITIES OF NEW, CROSS-BORDER HEATING GRIDS
BASED ON WASTE HEAT AND MINEWATER

The objectives of WP2 is to explore the unique leverage potential of minewater-based geotermal heat and heat storage in the focus area. Then Modelling Guidelines & Toolkit for the analysis and comparison of cross-border DH options will be developed and applied, and eventually the most feasible option will be selected.

WP3 : PILOT: TESTING AND FINETUNING MODELLING GUIDELINES & TOOLKIT
IN PREPARING A BANKABLE INVESTMENT PLAN

The Modelling Guidelines & Toolkit developed in WP2 will be piloted and finetuned in WP3, to deliver a cross-border DH modelling solution, potentially applicable to other cross-border cases throughout the IMR region.

WP4 : STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT AND UPSCALING

WP4 aims at Integrating key stakeholders (citizens & SMEs, and major governance, industrial and financial actors) via inclusion, dissemination, demonstration and cooperation. The second objective is to upscale the CROSS_HEAT solution at other borderside locations in the IMR region.
